Nick Palmiero- “Rim Catching”

Alright guys bring it in come over here and gather around its “time to Frisbee woooo” come on lets go lets go. Shane lets go! Alright were going to do catching today um there is to two types of catching I’m sure you learned the first type of catching it’s pancake catching it’s probably the most basic and everybody you know catches on pretty quick. It’s where you clap pretty much like this and clap the Frisbee. I’m doing “rim catching” and the most important thing you wanna do is keep your eyes on the Frisbee when your rim catching it’s a little more difficult and its called rim catching because you wanna catch it on the rim of the Frisbee alright and it can be a little more difficult because you can catch it with two hand but also one. So, Adam you mind coming showing them how we do it here. All right when Adam throws it to me, this is a two hand rim catch right here all right. You wanna look get extended on your hands ok, “gives it back” get your hands extended see it in and catch it. Now you can go one hand make sure your hands are extended and you keep your eyes on the Frisbee so you guys don’t get hit. I’m goanna have you guys grab a partner and maybe stand ten feet away from each other and were goanna do the two handed rim catch first. So here we go, here we go! Over on this red line over here right against the wall. Anybody need a Frisbee? Here you go Russ! Lets do a couple minutes two hands spread out give yourselves some room. Work on two hands from the start. Good job! Good job Danielle that’s how you catch! There you go Shane make sure you get those hands extended. All right everybody switch to one hand if you want to if you can’t do it then stick with two hands. Good job that a boy Brandon! All right good job guys bring it in, bring it in Frisbees down, good job! Lets bring it in over here, face me this way over here. All right can anyone one tell me what the two most important things they learned today while doing rim catching? Eye on the Frisbee and……extending your arms okay, get your hand out there so they don’t come in. Well next time will do “I don’t know” some running drills and will get and run at the same time. Good job today!

Second Day of Pickle Ball

Well I was defenitely thrown a curveball because my partner is now gone and it's just me finishing the unit. As much as I should be mad or upset by that I really am not mainly because not everything is going to go as planned. You have to be ready and expect these things to happen. Thats why I was prepared for it in case something like this ever happened. It is called taking initiative and responsibility on your own. I sucked it up and had a great second day I stayed positive and professional and the day went very well. I look back on this day as a very valuable teaching lesson because sometimes you may have to step up in a bad situation and turn it into a better one. So three very important things to remember about teaching are keep doing it, prepare and stay organized and in the end everything will work out.

First Day of Pickle Ball

Well my first time doing my pickle ball lesson went very well I just felt real relaxed because the more you get out there and do it, prepare and stay organized the better you will be. I felt that everything was organized and done well everyone seemed to stay busy and have fun it was a blast. I look forward for my next day!

PE Mini Conference

What a rewarding day of exposure and experience. It was a great way to get out there in front of professionals and express how passionate we are for making a change in the physical education department. It was a fun filled day and it gave us alot of information that we will be able to use as most of us soon start our professional careers. The only way I can describe the mood of this conference would have to be energetic. Everyone ssemed to be happy and dedicated to experiencing what this mini conference had to offer. This was a very rewarding and positive experience for all of us. Thanks Dr. Yang!

Ultimisbee Frisbee Unit

Well the ultimate frisbee unit was alot of fun, but at the same time for some it was a little nerve recking! I thought everything went well once you began your lesson you became very comfortable after the first couple minutes. It was really a stride for us to get in front of the class and actually teach as if we had our own class. It was a very worthwhile first experience and we can only get better and more comfortbable as the year fades out.
